The World Cocoa Conference organised by the International Cocoa Organisation with the support of the government of the Côte d'Ivoire, took place in Abidjan on the 19-23 of November. It brought together key stakeholders from across the cocoa value chain. Heads of state from leading cocoa producing countries, executives from major cocoa and chocolate companies and senior officials from processing, trade, banking and logistics gave presentations and took part in interactive sessions on the most pressing topical issues.

The conference programme addressed supply and demand dynamics, the recent Ivorian sectoral reforms, quality, certification and child labour. At the conference the ICCO announced their Global Agenda for a Sustainable World Cocoa Economy; a 10-year strategic action plan with commitments from key stakeholders from throughout the cocoa supply chain.

CacaoNet was invited to make a presentation on Wednesday 21 November as part of the “Sustainable Cocoa Production” breakout session.
