Kayode Olufemi Ayegboyin was born in Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Nigeria on 21st May 1975. He holds PhD in Plant Science from the University of Reading, Reading, United Kingdom in 2012 through the sponsorship from the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) of the Netherlands and the Sustainable Tree Crop Programme of International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan. He was also a visiting Research Fellow, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan between 2007 and 2011. He obtained MSc in Crop Science from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria as well as BSc (Agriculture) in Agricultural Extension Services from the same University of Ibadan in 2005 and 1997, respectively. Kayode was employed into the Agronomy and Soils Division of Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Ibadan in January 2002 as a Research Officer grade 2 and was advanced to Research Officer grade 1 in 2005 immediately he produced his MSc certificate, In 2008, Kayode was promoted to Senior Research Officer, Principal Research Officer in 2013 and Chief Research Officer in 2016. He is currently an Assistant Director and Head of Crop Production, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria. He was also the Head of Station and Manager, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Ajassor substation, Cross River State between 2013 and 2018. Dr Ayegboyin`s research interests include crop physiology and cocoa breeding, and he is currently using research to provide technology in improving the establishment ability, growth development and yield of cocoa, coffee, kola and tea in Nigeria. He has over 15 research publications in different reputable journals as well as a sizeable research conference proceedings and books on cocoa, coffee, kola, cashew and tea since 2006. Although, his PhD and MSc research work were mainly on cocoa improvement, Kayode remotely works on coffee, kola, cashew and tea which are the national mandate crops of his institute.
Apart from research, I am engaged in the teaching and training of many students on Industrial Attachment to my institute and as well co-supervise a few students on their BSc and MSc project work. I am currently the Head of Crop Production of my institute and assist my Executive Director in some administrative work in the institute.
